MBE gets involved in Dedaye

Myanmar Business Executive (MBE) is implementing a new school construction project in the villages of Dedaye township, Ayeyarwady Division, for Nargis relief, said vice president U Zaw Naing.

The Switzerland-based, Caritas Switzerland INGO is donating US$1.1 million for the Project Model Village in Kawat village, Dedaye township. Work started on October 30 this year and will finish in April 2010.

The second project is building 70-foot by 30-foot reinforced concrete two-storey, or 60-foot by 30-foot reinforced concrete two-storey, schools in 12 villages in Dedaye township.

U Zaw Naing said the buildings will also double as storm shelters and will rainwater tanks and toilets. The schools will also be provided with furniture and education support tools, he said.

“We chose Kawat (Yaykan Gyaung) village group as the site of our model village. And we will use this template elsewhere in the area,” U Zaw Naing said.
