5 of the Best: Christmas Dinners

It's one of the culinary highlights of the year: the family gathered together from near and far, sweet treats and strong drinks, and an afternoon spent stuffing yourself to satiation before dessert. But if time and distance conspire to keep you from your family's table this year, here are our top 5 picks for the Best Christmas Dinners in Yangon. Happy holidays!

Best for … families
The Square Restaurant, Novotel Yangon Max, 459 Pyay Road, Kamaryut
Indulge in a traditional brunch buffet on Christmas Day 12-3pm at Novotel’s Square restaurant ($40++ per person). While you enjoy a decadent, grow-up spread, the kids can enjoy a special children’s buffet full of sweet treats. There will also be a magician and other fun activities on hand to keep them occupied while you make the most of the free flow of selected beverages.

Best for … feeling festive
Belmond Governor’s Residence, 35 Taw Win Road, Dagon
Enjoy a five-course gourmet menu at the Belmond Governor’s Residence Christmas eve gala dinner on December 25 at 6:30pm. With live music and Christmas carols – helped along by festive tipples including Christmas punch and spiced wine – you’ll be feeling merry in no time. We’ve heard Santa will also be making an appearance, arriving in style on his … trishaw, of course.
Guests will also be entered into a Christmas lucky draw to win prizes that include a one-night stay at the hotel, including a three-course a la carte dinner for two and the Governor’s famous breakfast.
Tickets US$165 per person. To reserve a table, contact events.tgr@belmond.com

Best for … a taste of home
Hummingbird, 76 Phone Gyi Street, Lanmadaw
Got festive FOMO? If there’s one thing Hummingbird is good at it’s home-cooked comfort food, so their Christmas menu is sure to be just how your mother makes it – and then some. With festive favourites including Christmas pudding on the menu, you’ll be feeling jolly in no time.
The Christmas menu will be served at lunch and dinner on December 24 and 25, 10am to 9:30pm. To reserve a table, call 09-792327282.

Best for … lone wolves
