More than 4600 elderly people who applied for social pensions will receive the pay-outs from this fiscal year in accordance with the Elders Law, said Daw Phyu Phyu Khine, deputy chief officer from the Department of Social Welfare in Mandalay Region.

“There are more than 4600 elderly persons who applied for social pension. Some do not have national registration cards or household member lists while some have these documents. Now, we have analysed all of the applications,” said Daw Phyu Phyu Khine.

To apply for social pension, one needs to submit national registration cards and household member lists and the elderly (over 90 years of age) will be provided K10,000 monthly.
