The Israeli embassy and the Myanmar Computer Federation jointly organised the program called the Startup Israel 2017 in Myanmar this month, according to a statement from the embassy.

The contest is aimed at encouraging young people to develop their companies in the area of computing and ICT in general while contributing to society.

The winner will be invited with full support to visit Israel for a week during an innovation and networking event called DLD Tel Aviv in September. There will be second and third prizes of $400 and $200 respectively.

The nation of 7 million people is known as the ‘Startup Nation’ due to many young high tech companies established there and the intensive and developed ICT scene that produced dozens of successful companies, high-end products and an active export branch. Entrepreneurs can download the form at www.mcf.org.mm before July 20 July 2017. The participants must be the founder / CEO / Managing Director or General Manager of the company they represent.

There will be two themes for the competition which are “Social Entrepreneurship” and “Urban Innovation”.

The Israeli ambassador told The Myanmar Times that one of the aims is to encourage the young people of Myanmar exposed to the world scene of entrepreneurship and startups including social issue and urban society.

Another is to improve contacts in the ICT and entrepreneurship to bring together people from all over the world and gain some experience and knowledge on this issue.

The embassy of Israel held the startup festival for the first time in 2016. This is the second time for Myanmar. Pearl Yadana company won the first 2016 Startup prize last year.
