Myanmar is included with Vietnam, Syria, Iran and Singapore in Group D of the qualification round. The top team will make the trip to Jordan.

Myanmar beat Iran 2-0 in the opening match and won against Syria and Singapore, 12-0 and 6-0 respectively.

Today’s game against Vietnam will decide which team qualifies to play in the 2018 Asian Cup. After three group matches, Myanmar had 9 points, as did Vietnam. But Vietnam leads the standings because they have a higher goal differential than Myanmar.

Vietnam is the strongest team in Group D and the traditional rivals of the White Angels. Vietnam has the host advantage in the match and will qualify with only a draw because of the goal differential. Myanmar must win this match to qualify.

“In our matches, first we focussed on victory and second on scoring many goals. In this competition, the goal differential is important. Although I’m satisfied with the performance of our team, they must keep up the good work. Preparations have gone well for the last group match against Vietnam,” Myanmar head coach Roger Reijners said.
